The work we do as a charity is only possible because of the donations we receive from local businesses, church and community groups, schools, families and individuals. We get no financial support from local or central government. Times are hard for so many and we truly appreciate even the smallest donation because every little really does help.

We currently distribute around 160 food parcels a week which means the stock on our shelves doesn’t last very long. We estimate that the items we put in a basic food parcel would cost us  around £15 which means that if we had to buy it would cost us £2400 every single week. A basic food parcel contains a range of tinned, packet and ambient food items including vegetables, fruits, meat, soups, beans, pasta, rice and sauces and we rely heavily on donations of these basics. If all our supporters add just one extra tin to their weekly shop it makes a big difference.

If you’re having a clear-out of your cupboards we’re also happy to take any items you’re not going to use as long as they’re still within their ‘Best Before’ dates.

See below for where to donate.

Bulk Food Donations

We are very fortunate to have close relationships with a number of food wholesalers and distributors who are able to donate to us on either a regular or ad-hoc basis. This makes a big difference to the variety of food we are able to provide. We can usually make good use of ends of lines, overstocks and food approaching it’s ‘use by’ or ‘best before’ dates and rarely turn an offer away. Catering packs are also useful for our volunteer community meal cooks! We would be very interested to hear from any food businesses who maybe able to support us with fresh, frozen, chilled or ambient products so please contact Mary, our Operations Manager at info@hopeforfood.org.uk or 07391 084807

Clothing, shoes and equipment

We are always in need of clothing and shoes for both our homeless clients and the families we support. We are more than happy to accept clothes for both adults and children, we just ask respectfully that any worn items you donate are in good condition and clean. We are particularly in need of the following to support our local homeless community:

Trainers | Joggers | Jeans | Hoodies | Sweatshirts | Mens coats | Mens Belts | Socks | Boxer Shorts | Sleeping Bags | Roll mats

Toiletries and cleaning products

Personal hygiene is something most of us take for granted but for people struggling to get by on low incomes, basic grooming products may be very low on their list of priorities. This can have a hugely detrimental effect on both physical and mental well-being creating feelings of shame, exclusion and loss of confidence, particularly for children.

For health and safety reasons we can only accept new unopened toiletries and cleaning products.

Shower gel | Shampoo/Conditioner | Toothpaste | Tooth Brushes | Deodorant | Hand soap | Body lotion | Moisturiser | Sunscreen | Washing liquid/powder | Washing up liquid | Multi-purpose cleaner | Cloths/sponges | Bleach

Household Goods

We are often asked for household goods to help out families and individuals trying to set up in a new home so donations are always welcome. We can accept household goods and small kitchen appliances providing they are in good condition and fully functional. This includes microwaves, table top ovens, slow cookers, kettles etc. We also accept crockery, cutlery and cooking equipment.

We cannot accept furniture or large household appliances but Faithworks Storehouse may well be able to help if you have larger items to donate.
